Mouse and keyboard sharing of Desktop PC in Ubuntu 12.04
If you have a linux laptop and you want to use your linux desktop from your laptop. Moving mouse cursor and vice versa.
The reason: I have tried out xdmx and synergy and none of them really worked for me. Not sure the reason, after getting tired of all these I have decided to use x2x instead, which by now working super.
So, in my context, my laptop becomes HOST pc and desktop becomes CLIENT pc.
Install x2x (in both host and client pc) -
$sudo apt-get install x2x
Allow ssh port (both host and client pc) -
$ sudo ufw allow 22
(purge and install in client pc (in my case my desktop pc) back if x2x is not working)
$sudo apt-get purge openssh-server
$sudo apt-get purge openssh-client
$sudo apt-get install openssh-server
$sudo apt-get install openssh-client
install ssh - (in both host and client pc)
$sudo apt-get install ssh
$sudo /etc/init.d/ssh restart
Now, in host pc, i.e. laptop (the one's mouse and keyboard we want to use) -
$ssh -X -v client-pc-ip x2x -west -to :0
Hope this helps others. Cheers.
